VH Bio has underlined its commitment to constantly improving its environmental credentials by earning accreditation to the ISO 14001 environmental standard.
VH Bio has secured the international ISO 14001:2015 standard, which sets the framework for organisations to follow in order implement an environmental management system, in turn enhancing its environmental performance.
It means the Gateshead-based company, which specialises in supplying and distributing HLA typing products for transplant diagnostics, reagents for molecular biology, cell biology and immunology, has placed sustainability and reduction of its environmental impact at the heart of its business strategy.
Alison Wortley, managing director at VH Bio, said the accreditation meant a lot to her personally, as well as for the business as a whole. She urged more businesses to follow VH Bio in working to reduce their impact on the environment.
“We are so pleased to announce we have been awarded the ISO 14001:2015 certification, this is something we have been working hard to achieve for a year,” she said.
“It is a standard which gives us a framework to manage our environmental impact and responsibilities; allowing us to monitor and ultimately improve this impact both as individuals and a company.
“For those who know me well know the environment is a subject very close to my heart, I strive for minimal impact in my personal life and I am thrilled that we have now been able to extend this ethos to the company.
“I genuinely believe that businesses should not make decisions purely based on money alone and the world would be a better place if this was the case globally.”
ISO 14001:2015 helps to provide value for the environment, the organisation itself and also third parties. The standard can be applied to any organisation, regardless of size, type and industry, and applies to the environmental aspects of its activities, products and services.
