VH Bio are pleased to welcome Navjot Sagoo to the team as our new HLA Technical Specialist! Get to know her in this short bio:
In 2014 I graduated from Nottingham Trent University with degrees in both Biological Sciences (FdSc) and Biomedical Sciences (BSc).
During university, I undertook various laboratory placements, including a 3-month placement in a hospital in Mumbai. This enabled me to gain experience within the laboratory and understand how to use different reagents and equipment.
I joined Anthony Nolan as a Clinical Assistant in 2014. I worked very closely with VH Bio because my main responsibility was SSO Typing using LabType. In 2015 I was promoted to the role of Laboratory Scientist and trained on SeCore SBT and SSP Typing – again, working closely with VH Bio.
In 2018 I was promoted to role of a Senior Laboratory Scientist and was involved in various process development projects to develop and improve HLA-typing processes, as well as troubleshooting any issues that arose. Alongside my practical skills, I also developed a key understanding of different analytical software programs including HLA-Fusion and U-type.
Outside of work I enjoy cooking and testing out new recipes. I love travelling and visiting new countries. I studied Spanish as an A-level and I enjoy practicing whenever I get the opportunity to do so.
I would also like to learn new languages – Italian is next on the list! Furthermore, I am a nail artist (follow me on Instagram @nav_nails) and I like to keep up with all the latest nail trends!
